I think it would be hard to hit your head in the back seat if properly restrained. They also offer padding for the bar as an extra layer of protection.

The harness manufacture will have detailed instructions on to the proper way to install the harness. Look on line at corbeau seats, they have it on line. You may not want to use the fifth point.
