Subscribed; Good question. I have 35's with 40k miles on them, as well as 5.13's and an Auto. I've beefed things up with the intent on going to 37's, but am curious what others have experienced with this setup.

I'm running 5.13s with a automatic on BFG km2 37s. I also have a flashpaq too. It's great. Love it. Just drive from san diego to LA today. 16mpg at 75-80.. no complaints

After reading several posts and going a lot off what PLANMAN has to say - I am planning on 5.38's with my auto/37s

5:38's are fine for a d44 equipped rig. The OP has a d30 front axle and 5:13's be da limit for him. I went 5:13's in my d44 as I like to be one size down from the limiting tiny pinion factor. ... kinda sorta a strength thing in my head. For him in my minds eye 4:88's is as daring as I would get but lotsa guys run the 5 series gears on a d30 with no quams.

I'm running 5.13's, 37" mtrk's, and an auto in my 2door. Driveability is pretty decent with this setup. Even with the 5.13's you definitely feel the rotating mass of the 37's. The jeep turns 2200 rpm @ 70 mph on the highway which is just about right to keep the big tires spinning at that speed. I wouldn't mind having a little more gear, but think 5.38's would be a little too high for the highway.

I had 5.13s and 37s in my 07. I wished that I hadn't done it. 37s are very heavy tires (13.5 inches wide vs 12.5inches wide) and to me were too big for the dana 44s. The 37s were hard to balance and wandered on the interstate. The engine pulled good with 35s but like a dog with 37s. Bigger isn't always better. You need to decide if you can live with lower gas mileage and more wear on the drivetrain.
