It was the rear ring & pinion on a Dana 44 and the pinion gear was chewed up just like the ring gear.

Sounds like your gears were never set up properly then.

There's a 500 mile break in period when you get new gears where they say you should not go over 65mph, do any hard accelerating, etc in order to allow a nice wear pattern to occur on the gears. Were you able to perform this? If so, maybe switching to a different brand such as Yukon would help (I have theirs in 5.13 as well with 40" tires). Though I've seen quite a few Superior 5.13 gears being ran on rigs with Dana 44s and 40" tires without any problems....and they wheel them hard.

I would think the 37" tires might have something to do with it.

First set of gears lasted about 10 months then they broke the second set lasted about 5 weeks and I am pretty sure they weren't installed correctly. I am waiting to hear back from Superior Gear about warranty claim if possible.

Well there are several people I know that are running larger tires than 37" with the same gear set up and haven't had a single problem. So I don't think the tires are the main issue probably the mechanic who installed them.
