Default 5.13 or 5.38 for 37" automatic

Read them all. Still up in the air. I do moderate wheeling, lots of towing, and highway...

Please can anyone sell me on what to regear

I am running the 5:38's as well with 37's and an auto. Wouldn't have it any other way!

for most people, 5.38 is definitely a good ratio to go with but, the pinion is really really small in a dana 44 and, if you wheel hard and often, a 5.13's will be a lot stronger and a better option to go with. granted, i was running 40's at the time but, when i ran 5.38's in my factory 44, i soon found myself wishing i had stuck with 5.13's.

If your running d44s and put a lot of strain on your axles, real wheeling, towing etc I would stay away from 5:38s,anything lower than 5:13 and the r&p get awfuly small & become the new weak link in your axle assy.take a look at both sets side by side & you will see exactly what I am talking about.

in all fairness, a 5.38 will be just fine for most people as most never wheel as hard or as often as they would like to believe. but, even if you're easy on the gas and avoid tire hopping and make sure to pick good lines, IF you play hard enough and often enough, the cumulative effect can and more than likely will, eventually take it's toll.
