Default 4 wd low wont stay in gear

I was wondering if ne body would no how to fix this problem or what I need to do in order to fix this? I have 4" suspension n 1.75" body n 35s on a 05 wrangler sport. When I go to put it in 4 wd low it doesn't want to stay in, is it from the angle being to hard or is there a adapter that I can get for the lever to fix it ??? Thanks

You may have better luck on a TJ forum. I'm not familiar with that issue. Sorry

I know it is a WAY completely different vehicle, but when my 87 GMC truck wouldn't stay in 4wd it was due to a broken motor mount. When the engine would torque everything it kicked the transfer case out of gear. I highly doubt this will help you, but maybe it will give you a place to start looking.

I don't know for sure but could be do to the body lift. Those things screw everything up. Just my $.02

Im with you Brownies. The reason I suggest the torque is because it caused misalignment of the transfer case so it kicked out of gear. I doubt it would be the body lift though, dont you think? A body lift doesnt mess with the drive train. Hell, I dont know. I will do some lookin around and see if I cant get some actual facts to help out.

Just a quick check on a couple other forums. You may need an adapter to lower your transfer case to get everything lined back up. Misalignment is the major thing that jumps out at me. Maybe a worn shift fork or other components?

Once you install a body lift, it throws off the angle of the transfer case shifter. You can either heat the shifter and bend it forward, or trim the metal so it will engage all the way.

I concur. a 1" body lift on my 1998 threw off this linkage. you get under it and can adjust it.

I'm pretty sure a TJ uses a hard linkage not a cable for the transfer case s will need to get an adapter bracket with a 1.75" body lift
