4.88's, Six Speed, and 33's - Are you running this mix?
4.88's....easy to get, easy to get installed here. Problem is, I don't want to lift (much) at this point, and only plan on upgrading to 33's for now.
So...if you are running this combo...how does it drive in every day use? I do mostly start-stop driving with the occasional highway stint. Once a year I do a 1500 mile highway trip.
I assume I won't need to use 1st gear much around town...(but it will be great for pulling stumps maybe. )
The table shows I will be pulling around 3k RMP at 70MPH. Does that hold true ITRW.

If I intended on staying with 33's there is no way I would recommend 4.88's ... stick with 4.10's or 4.56 tops ....
However ... I do plan on going with 35's as soon as I find a good deal and have the spare cash ... so 4.88 was the right thing to do for me ...

Since the OP says he drives mostly stop-n-go with rare highway stints, I don't think 4.88 is out of line at all.

Thanks...your responses are exactly what I was hoping to hear....i.e. confirmation from reading/searching....what I had already suspected.
I just got off the phone with the shop and they are ordering me some 4.56's.
Now, I need to try find some all terrain tires on the "high" side of 33 and that will work on snow/ice.

Thanks....I see there are some 285/70R17's - just a touch under 33" by the Goodyear WEB site sizing chart.
Anyone running the 285/70R17's and know what their "real" diameter is?
I suppose I could get new wheels (I already ordered some Spidertrax wheel spacers) and go to the 315s. According to the Goodyear site, the 315's aren't approved for the stock rim size, yes?

I have 4.10's with 35's and have enough control. With 33" tires, I would think 4.10 is more that adequate. I would not go over 4.56's. But to each their own.
