My 08 unlimited x 6speed is going in the shop on Monday for 5:13s. I haven't bought tires yet so this thread is of great interest to me as it can help me decide 35 or 37. Mine is a daily driver mostly in town but when I do go highway its usually for long 300 plus mile trips. Keep the info and setups coming guys I appreciate it!!

He is talking out his butt, he has an auto and has no idea what a manual transmission feels like with 4.88's. I drove up a significant hill (Middle TN style) in 6th going 75MPH and lost 1 MPH in a 1/2 mile. For me, 4.88's and 35's are great and have even had days of "I wish I would have gone 4.56".

Again, on a 6 speed with a D30, I recommend 4.88's, but since you have the 5.13's being installed, I sure would make sure you beef up the D30 before you put on anything. I would not put 35's or 37's without at least gusseting your C's. I have gussets and a custom truss.

If you put 35's on the 5.13's you are going to be reving pretty high in 6th at 70MPH. I am at 2800.

Is that because u r reving to high due to being geared to low?

Yup, I rev ~2800 at 70, so I have nice power, but I am down to 14MPG. Partially that is because the Mickey Thompson's are a pretty short 35, and partially because 4.88 is a low gear ratio for 35's.

Thanks for the input, to me...it would seem that 5.13 will have me cranking a much higher RPM at cruising speeds than 4.88. I know it is only a quarter driveshaft turn more...but it makes a difference. I know that 5.13 would be the absolute best for offroad and rockcrawling but given how much og that I do, 4.88's are probaly better for a daily driver. Also I'm seeing alot of people saying that 5.13 will bring back stock performance, looking at the chaert maybe in a rubicon with stock 4.10's. I have 3.73 and at 70 I'm only turning 2300 RPM. So to jump to 2700+RPM with 5.13 and 37's it will feel like it is screaming. As well as I'm sure the gas mileage will suffer more.
