I want to know how the 4.88 gears are with a 6 speed for the DD. I know they will be great for off road performance but how about on road. It sure seems like a low gear to be running on the street for the DD. I will be re-gearing soon and will probably go with the 4.88 gears because that's what I've heard is best. A couple of locals said the 4.56 would be the better choice for on road and the 4.88 for more off road performance. Do you still use 1st gear with 4.88 or do you have to start in 2nd. I'm running heavy with all the aftermarket stuff I've added so I'm pretty sure the 4.88 is the way to go.

I ran that set up for about a year (mine is also my DD) before jumping up to 37's, and had no problems with it. 1st gear will be a little short - I usually started in 2nd unless I was on a steep hill. I got 14-15 mpg around town, and just over 16 on the highway.

Not exactly your ? but I have stock 4.10 and 33s as a DD and 6th is for the flats only.

I have 4.88s with 6-speed, 35s and 4 door as my DD. I think it is a great set up for me.

I would definitely recommend either 4.88 or 5.13's. Like Planman said 4.56 would just be a waste of money. I would probably sway more towards the 5.13 side.

i had 513's with 35's and to me it was perfect with the 4dr

Depends how much trail use your rig will see vs. highway. If this is true DD i would go with the 4:56 if you can find them.

The 6-speed makes up for alot when you are taking about gearing. If you see alot of hills or Mtn's you might want to consider going 4:88 or higher.

That said, I have 4:88's and would probably do 4:56 if I could do it over. As it is now I can start in 3rd gear and cruise at +/- 70 mph at 2800-2900 rpm. ( in phoenix 70 is like going backwards on the highways )

Agreed. A local friend with a 2-door and 35s went 4.56s and regretted it.
