Have 488
I'm running 4.88 G2's on 35s with a 4 inch lift
I am very happy with my 4.88's, I never touch the overdrive disable anymore... and I have a lot of up and downs
on an 8% hill climb my jeep will stay at 70 mph in 4th gear without shifting down, but if I want to jump to 75 I have to disable overdrive and floor it and after a few seconds it will shift down to 3rd and peak out the RPM's and MPG will read 8mpg hahaha
on the flats it will stay in 4th and I can go 80-90 no problem... if you want 15-20 mpg you have to stay in the 65-70 mph range...
Now... I will tell you that I wish I had done 5.13 because I want 37's!!!!

What a pain this decision is... I am in the same boat. I will not do more than 35s... so I was thinking 4.88 to rev lower for the hundred miles to get to the trail, vs. 5.13 for the extra low end over the rocks...
I hate these decisions.

i was in the same boat the last couple months... Ordered 5.13's, getting installed in the next week or so... I looked at it this way, you never hear anyone that ordered 5.13 and wish they got 4.88, but you read plenty of people getting 4.88 and wish they had goen 5.13..
Cant go wrong with 5.13's

Just looking at the chart posted up there, you've got a whole 120-150 RPM difference (depending on transmission) between the two. Not quite a life altering event going either way. Seriously, would anyone even notice the mpg difference from 150rpm?
Personally, I think my auto was undergeared from the factory, so I have no desire to maintain 'factory' gearing. - Which is apparently where you go back to with 4.88's, 35's and an auto. As I mentioned earlier, I have 5.13's with 34's, and can easily see running 5.38's. But to each his own and all that...
