Default 4.10 gears

I have a 2008 JK Unlimited X model. D30 front D44 rear. Original gears are 3.21. If you put a set of 4.10s in the rear would it cause problems in 4x4 mode with the same ole 30 up front... for now anyway?

I think I know the answer but just trying to learn something new.

You have to run the same size gears in the front and rear. You can run the 4.10s in the rear if you remove the front drive shaft I think. Unless the 4.10s are free, I'd look at a larger set of gears.

I suspected as much. Looking at 4.10s from a Rubi but of course I don't have a 44 front.

Thanks

You always replace the gears in both axles at the same time, unless you are removing the front driveshaft.

4.10's in the front are no problem for the D30. My Unlimited X came with 4.10's from the factory.

I'm changing my gears to 4.88's in the near future. If you are looking for a cheap gear swap, let me know.
