All you guys running 37's seem to not have too many mods (at first). This is encouraging, as I really dont 4x4 fanatically. Plus as im new to the whole scene, I probably dont have the balls to put the car in too much trouble lol.

I looked into the C gassets, they are only $100 or so. That seems like a good investment for strength.

I have a question. This will probably make me sound stupid..
but when you upgrade from D30 to D44 is it a whole new Axle housing? As in, will I need to buy the entire component that converts the power from the drive shaft to the wheels and everything around it?

Or is upgrading to D44 only the inner axle shafts?

Also, If I re geared my D30 to say 5.13, Can I keep the gears if I upgrade to a D44?

Another thing.. When you say leave the diff open, this means no Lockers? right? So you dont put extra stress on the axle when stuck in a rut?

Thanks for all the feedback. You guys are genius!

Just did that to mine a few weekends ago at Rausch Creek...it was a hell of a loud "pop!"

C-gussets are a great idea on any JK......tire size notwithstanding.

A D44 is an entirely new housing with different (read larger and stronger) internals.

Gears from a D30 will not work in a D44.

"Open" means no locker.
