The people saying these outrageous risky type things about a d30 most likely wouldn't be saying the same things or at least to the same extent of you had a rubicon with a d44 front.

The only thing different about a stock rubi front is the tube diameter is fractionally larger(not thickness), there are a few more splines on the shafts, and the ring and pinion are a tad larger. Everything else is the exact same stuff. Ball joints, steering, tie rod ends, c's, u-joints, etc.

I have run 37s on a d30 waiting for it to brake or even show wear for over a year. The comment about going over a bad set of railroad tracks is ridiculous. Fear mongering. I have abused the sh*t out of my d30 with no problems. Ball joints aren't even bad yet. I run Nitto trail grapplers. If you want to run 37s you can do it on 100% stock axle til you can save for a bigger front axle.

I will be putting in ultimate Dana 60s when mine goes, but don't plan on that being anytime soon based on what I've seen. Now with all this being said I will say that I know my limits and don't drive like a complete ass offroad, not all the time. Every blue moon I will. But I know when I've risked it enough and I calm down. You will not have an on road failure running a 37 on the stock axle. That is absolutely ridiculous. I've seen people running up to 46" tires on a d30 in an 07. Daily driving even with some offroad. This is because she had a one ton swap waiting and a diesel swap too. Husband owns a shop. Don't listen to people online pretending the d30 is made of glass and wood because it isn't much weaker than the rubicon fronts. Which granted aren't that strong in comparison to aftermarket but they aren't as fragile as people act.

I wouldn't run a 37" spare on the gate though without a nice carrier like a crawler conceptz body mounted carrier or something.

2 sets of 4.88s and 2 sets of 3.73s (1 not pictured) is what I've blown so far in my Dana 30 with 37s. If you are paying for the work, and also don't know how to fix shit if it breaks on the trails, you're wasting your (and everyone who wheels with you) time.

Just wanted to put this here to further what Chuck is saying. Besides the significant ring and pinion difference from 30 to 44 (it's more than a "tad bigger") this is the stub shaft difference. Look at the ears...

I blew up the gears in my D44 back when I had it. It lasted 3 months on 37s.

Just to reiterate what people have scolded (hopefully) into you...just don't run a spare until you can afford to. Either throw it in the back, or leave it at home. I'm assuming you have AAA anyways?

The stock carrier lasted 3 months on my very light 35" tire set up. Those 37's are significantly heavier, and your tailgate will hate you. If you lose that tire on the highway...you could easily kill somebody and YOU will be liable.
