You definitely don't want that much flotation where you live. They won't perform well on the snow and ice. They won't cut through mud to firmer ground and are much better suited to environments like sand where you want to float over it as opposed to dig in.

Going through that wet snow out there on the east coast that you get sometimes will be a problem steering, as in pushing it out of the way.

Go to a 12.50 tire

I dont mean to thread jack but i think since width is a topic of tires, how would a 13.5" tire do in a jk non daily driver mud rocks and very light snow?

I have the 35x12.5x17s MTRs with Kevlar on my JK and I definitely would not buy them again. They are too light of tire for a JK, especially if you have any armor or bumpers. Lots of sidewall sway on road but fine off road. If you're really sold on the MTRs w/Kevlar in 35s, I would opt for the heavier service description LT315/70R17s. Nominal size difference and a tire that supports the weight of a JK with some extra goodies.

Also, the MTRs have proven to require a lot of weight to balance. My 35" Toyo Open Country MTs took a fraction of the weight and when the time comes I'll be heading back that direction.
