Can I run 35x12.5x17 on 17x8.5 on my stock jku with no lift? These are aftermarket rims with backspackng. Just don't remember what backspacing it was. Bought all from discount tire.

You can but you will have to do some cutting. You'll need to cut the rear pinch seam, probably your front bumper or get a stubby. Depending on what your backspacing is you may have to get wheel spacers to get some of your turning radius back. I'm running 37's on stock suspension right now.
If you want to do any wheeling though you'll need bigger bump stops to keep your wheel from rubbing the wheel wells and destroyjng your tires.
I wouldn't recommend doing it this way. I'd at least get a budget boost. It can be done though.

I tried and was ok for daily driving until I put passengers in the jeep or drove into an off camber parking lot. With cutting and spacers, you'll be ok bit not ideal for anything off road. You can do a budget boost which will help but you may still rub off road. Wheel spacers as well. I've attached pics of my rig with the same size you are asking about without a lift and with the lift.

This is my '10 JKU sitting on 35's with stock suspension. I recommend flat fenders and watch your off-road use as you will be VERY limited on your jeeps ability to flex. As far as daily driving, did it in mine for a couple of years until I finally lifted it.

I am running a 2.5 inch lift and still rub the back of my rear fender flares. I really didn't want to cut them but I guess I will have to as they rub when crossing off camber parking lot drives or streets and really rub off road. I bought another set of stock fender flares so I am going to cut them and see how much mess it makes of the sides of the Jeep.

Here is my 07 with 36" and no lift but cut flares rubs a bit when I hit a dip if 4 people are with me or I have a load. It is a sand buggy and does not see any off camber or rocks or twisting up..all flat play
