Default 35x12.50 on a 12" rim?? Will it work?

I have an opportunity to buy a set of 20x12 fuel hostage wheels and I already have a set of 35x12.50 tires. The wheels are 4.5 backspacing so I am told. I have searched and seen a few like this. Some say you can run a 12.50 tire on a 12 wheel without any problems and others mention airing down being a problem, tire stretching due to a 12.50 not being a true measurement. I have researched all sorts of stuff. If anyone can shed some light on this for me or even share some pictures it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

That is too much width for a 12.50 imo. It will definitely ballon the tires out. Airing down to go off road would be a no go. If it is mainly street driven, you could go up to a 10", but personally I would stick with a 9" wheel.

Yeeeeah I wouldn't do it... It could probably "work" in a jam but I wouldn't consider it safe.

Can you vs should you. I'm guessing you knew the answer before you even asked the question.

From someone who ran 10.5" tires on 10" wheels- yes, it can be done. Did I air down to 7-8psi like some people? Hell no, but I did drop down on 14psi and didn't lose a bead all day at Rausch Creek. I've had.....4 sets of wheels like this, no problems with any of them.

It's not a popular option here, but certainly doable without issue.

If it's going on a 20" rim I dough it will be getting air down at all. For your mall crawler it will work. Some shops may not install then though.

I have seen it done before and was fine. Im sure there is a small chance something could happen, but wouldnt be to worried about it if you need to use the tires.

I wouldn't take it off road like that. You will get a lot of thumbs up in the Ghetto though. I had a guy in a four door with wheels like that, and low profile street tires give me a wave the other day. I gave him a single finger wave. His may have been 24" wheels though. Can you say Donk.
