Default 35x12.5-17 vs. 305/70-17 Goodyear MTR-buying soon and need advice

I am very close to pulling the trigger on some MTRs. The only thing I am still undecided on is size. I want to go with either the 34s or the 35s. The 34s are a D rated tire and the 35s are a c rated tire. They are both the same price and weigh exaclty the same. The 44 is about .8 inch wider in diameter. The 34s will cost me more money to ship because they are in a wharehouse that is farther from my house.

I have 3.21 gears in 6 speed with a 3.25 RC lift (3 inchs front and 2 inches in the rear actual lift after settling) What size do you guys think I should go with? Any advantage in strength and durability of tire going with a D vs C tire? I also don not have a aftermarket bumper and tire carrier and will not for at leat a yar due to funds. I think the 34 should fit with my backspace but not sure about the 35.

Where did you even find a place that can get the 35 12.5 17 MTR's?

I've got the 305/70/17's. Fits fine on the stock carrier, however I recentyl installed a Rugged Ridge bumper/carrier combo because my tailgate was starting to make bad sounds on bumpy roads.

Wish I woulda went with a 35, C load range and most importantly no WHITE LETTERS. I don't hate the OWL's, but I certainly prefer the black sidewalls on the 35's.

Otherwise, outstanding tire, you're gonna live them.

go with the 35's. I got mine from discount tire. Also, 4WD.com has a good deal on them. I have 3.21's and a six speed also. You want the load C because the tire will be lighter and offer less rotating mass (will be easier on that 3.21 gear setup) and lighter weight on your tire carrier. The 35 should fit the stock tire carrier as long as you have a wheel with 4.5 backspacing. If you add a superchips it will also get alot of performance you lose back.

Wow. Your running 35's with 3.21 gears. I was worried about running them with my automatic on 3.73 setup. I thought, yeah, I can do it for now and leave the overdrive off. I do have the superchip which was just set up this week. One tank at 87 octane and I filled up last night with 91 and reflashed. How is performance and economy with the 35's and your 3.21 setup? You ever make it to 6th gear?

Actually running 35s with 3.21 six speed is better than 3.73 auto.
