35's worth the trouble?

Heck yeah
IMO, You can make 33's look badd ass by going down to 15s or some 16s steelies. However once you realize that its still a 32" diameter on a 3" lift you may regret not dishing out a little more for the 35's. I run my Duratrac 315s 34" diameter tire on a 2.5 lift w/1" spacers f/r and if I did it again I'd go long arm but thats me. As for re-gearing I am running 3.21s w/6sp and its ok for running around town. HWY is different, yes 6th is almost unusable, flat or down hill only. But its tolerable. No DS issues plenty of clearance. My regret is not going to a bigger lift and 37's.. So, you may have 2" envy no matter what you choose.. There are some Bad Ass Jk's on the site.

Yes
2010 Rubicon with Half Doors, 4:10 Gears
Just added 2" AEV Lift, 34x12.50x17 Duratracs,
Cost about $3k
I am experiencing min rubbing ( gonna shave lower bumper cover)
Gears are fine for the road, need 4:56 to 4:88 for off road
Would i do it again ... YES

35's all the way. Trust me, if you go with a 33 you'll park next to a guy or wheel with a guy with 35's and you'll be a sad puppy.
Many posts above about suspension set ups that can keep you from needing a front DS replacement.
One think I don't think I read yet was the need to strengthen your from C's. Get some C gussets welded in when you go 35's. This is a vulnerable area and the Gussetts only cost like 75 bucks and another 150 tonged them welded in.
