With 35's, what gear ratio should I use on my 2010 JK Unlimited Sport?
I have a stock JK Unlimited. Right now it is struggling in the power department. My problem is I'm looking for lift it and put 35's on it. I know it will probably barely make it up the road after that so I'm thinking of re-gearing it. Can anyone help me with what gear ratio I should go with? 4:10 or 4:88? Keep in mind, it is my daily driver.

My recommendation for a 6 speed would be the 4.88's...... however, if you do a lot of highway driving, you will average 2600 rpm's at 60. I have heard a few recommend 4.56's. These will let you get a little more speed with lower rpm's.......

At least 4:88 for 35's. If there is even a tiny chance you'll ever go bigger I'd just bump up to the 5:13. There's no sense in having to regear twice. Might want to think about doing some sleeves in the front to strengthen that front end while you're at it too. Running bigger tires puts a lot of extra stress on our axles.

I have had both 4:55 and 4:88's in my JK with 6 speed. It is according to what you do and want. climbing/pulling performance vs. highway driving. I do a lot of highway driving, 500 miles weekly, so I started with 4:56 and moved to 4:88 gears. I got marginally better gas mileage with the 4:56 but with less performance: 16.5 MPG average with 4:88s vs. 17.3 average MPG with 4:56s. I do love the pulling and hill climbing performance with the 4:88's but know that you lose MPG when pushing the JK past 75 MPH with them and 80+ is not productive with high engine RPM and MPG fallling drastically.
