Thanks for all the replys! 35s would be the largest i am wanting to run since i drive this many miles a day how much power will i lose keeping the same gears for a few months after switching from the toyos which sit kinda a 34 that are heavy compared to the duratracs that will be 35s but aren't the duratracs lighter than the toyo's?

If you want to keep your 3.73 gears, make sure to ALWAYS turn off OD, city or highway. Some people think it's a dog, because they likely keep OD on. When you turn it off and reach highway speeds, you're effectively running 5.38 gears with OD on. Which means, there are 0 issues on highway with 3.73 gears. It's actually better than 5.13, because you have more power. In city it's very fine too. You can keep the shifter in 2nd gear to have lots of power around city, but 3rd also works fine if grades are fairly flat. After you try that, see where your RPM are, and where they'd be if you regear, you'll probably understand my point.
Also, since your current tires are already in between of stock 255 and 35's, and you'll be switching from mud to AT tires, which also weigh probably the same, I'm pretty sure you won't feel much difference, if any at all.

I see a lot of people come and ask this question. My advice is get the tires first, then decide for yourself if you need to regear or not. Only you can answer this question, because it's a very subjective choice. When I went from stock 255 tire to 35 Kevlars, I noticed only a slight degradation in performance. I actually thought braking is a lot more diminished compared to acceleration. But now I'm used to it, so I don't even think about it anymore. I already had a Superchips and calibrated my speedo. Yes, gears would help, but for what they cost I just don't feel they're worth it. You're basically paying $1600 to get 1st gear back, which is still quite usable, especially on pavement. Off road it could be lacking, but it's livable. And then there is always 4lo.

Oh, and my RPM in 3rd gear (OD off) at 100 km/h is around 2250.
