I put 33's on my 2011 Unlimited, and wish now that I had gone with 35's. I like the looks so much better with the 35's. My 33's run great, and no issues at all with having to change speedo or re-gearing, but if you want your rig to look like a Jeep should, do the 35's

I am trying to make the same decision, but us noted above I don't think I am prepared for the additional costs associated with going to 35's. I love the look of the 35's, but on my DD which see's mostly pavement I think my option is to go with 33's, do a 2" lift...I like that look. Hope you figure it out....it's a tough decision to make.

I have been running 33's for the last few years and have been very happy with them but I am definetly noticing a difference in capability the last couple of wheeling trips now that my "33's" have 55k+ miles on them and are more like 31's.

So for someone with a stock JKU Rubicon, what other mods are recommended when going to 35" tires, other than an obvious lift?

Gears?
Drive shaft?
Programmer?
Other?

Get the 35's. If you want a smooth ride just borrow your wife's car.

Gears and a programmer will be your best fixes, drive shafts and axles may wear faster with 35s but I wouldnt replace until they need it.

there is someone relatively local (boston) selling 295/70/17 toyo open country m/t ... https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...try-s-3k-Miles they are 33.5 tall, kind of a compromise between 33s and 35s. that could be an option for you.

*disclaimer... i am not affiliated with the thread i linked, it just seems like these tires could work for you.

ID:	185224I have a 2010 Rubicon, I just went with AEV 2" Lift, 34.4 x 12.50 x 17's Duratracs on AEV wheels and ( so far) Stock 4:10 Gears. It will probably be 95% Street use.

PROS; The combination looks great. I dont like the look of too much space between the tires and fender. Duratracs look great and are very quiet. It looks like what it should have looked like stock

CONS: Climbing power, I climbed a semi-steep slope in 4x4Hi 1st gear almost didn't make it. Something that would have been a no-brainer before. Needs 4:56 to 4:88's

BOTTOM LINE; get 35's change gears if you off road
