Default Gearing

would i need to regear with 33"s? i have the 6 speed so i assumed it wouldnt be a problem as long as i drive right and i dont see too many hills living in fla but i do go wheeling so im hoping for minimal problems

Okay, so some rpm and shift point info.

Cruising ....60mph (speedo says 55 but its set to 30" stock tires)
6th gear 1600 rpm
5th gear 2000 rpm
4th gear 2500 rpm

Shift points..... kind of subject to how you drive.... but heres an idea

1st .... good to about 25mph
2nd .... good to about 40mph
3rd.... good to about 55mph

I am not saying that is the shift point ..... rather where it starts to be too many rpms.

Oh and BTW ... My mpg is 15+mpg in town and close to 20mpg highway. (keeping it under 70mph)

Default 33's

I ran the 33's with 3.21's and it was bearable, and I got the same mileage listed above. the jump to 35s was not liveable with 3.21's. 6th gear was useless.

thanks for all the input and feedback:

Im thinking about just picking up some 33's; need new tires soon, already 25k. and see whether the 3.21 is tolerable.

The speed limit here on isle is 45 at the max, so im not so concerned about highway cruising. mainly getting around town and up some very steep hills.

I really do like the tall gears of the 3.21; however, I seems like if I get bigger tires with the 3.21 I will end up with a 3 speed?

I def have to keep it 4lo when offroad. There is no 4hi with the 3.21 and 17" package.
