I'm currently running 33" pro comp tires with 17" wheels and a 3" lift. Looking at possibly upgrading to 35" tires but don't have money for regearing right now... Is anyone running 35's and 3.21 ratio? Is it extremely slow and sluggish did bearable or should I just stick with my 33's? I do any 50 miles worth of interstate per day

Scroll down like 40 threads some on else posed this questIon and it has about 40 responses. I have a similar set up to you. 3" lift and 33s on a 3.21 jku. It's okay but highway hills suck we both know that. Not a big fan of it kicking down to 3rd to maintain 70 mph on hills. I know I will be regearing before I got to 35s. 95% certain to 4.10. From everyone I have talked to they say it the best money they spent. Another way to look at it. Buy the 35s and drive it... You'll have ur answer. 🤓

seen people say its wasent bad. personally i think they are crazy or only have ever driven busses their whole lives and are use to slow sluggish performance. I have 4.10's with the 3.6 manual transmission and about to go to 4.56 because it dosent feel as good as it use to i cant even imagine running 3.21's but agian that is imo.

3.21s and 35s would probably be really shitty offroad. I had 4.88s and 35s on my TJ and to me it needed more power. It will work, yeah..... Just run the 35s and see if you hate it, if so then regear. Also if you are running an automatic and plan on the 3.21s and 35, this would probably be hard on the transmission. Your shifting would probably be all out of wack.

I feel that if you have money for 35's, you might want to just use that for 4.88 / 4.56 gears, and wait on the 35" tires for now. You will be much happier in the long run.

Just a thought.... I have 2 jeeps in the shop right now for re-gear.... and I had to talk them into it! but, after driving there Jeeps once we did the lift and tires it seemed to be a easier sell, I need to get cracking. Its a 6 hour job to do both front and rear, that's without looking up, or answering the phone, LOL...

Maybe I need to rethink 4.56s. Question: why are 4:10s like $300 more for a set?

You will be better off with the 4.56. I put 4.56 in my 2007 JKU with 35" and actually wish I put 4.88 in it. I have a set of 4.10 gears that came out of my 2007 if you really want to try that route. I will sell them.

As for why the 4.10 are more..... Not sure, most likely due to more demand for them.

A few things...

Type of Jeep? Which engine, which tranny?

What are your plans with the Jeep and what terrain are you traveling? Hills, flat, off-road, looks, etc...

My experience.

2012 JKU, Auto. I live in south florida (flat), and I don't off-road. Been running 3.21's and 35's for 20k miles no issues. Taken a few trips with the Jeep loaded with camping stuff and bikes... (tents, bikes, etc...)

No biggie. 70mph on highway.

Something no one mentions is driving style. I'm driving a Jeep, so I'm not that guy that takes off from a red light and run first ahead of everyone. Some people just drive that way and have no idea. (My wife). That's just how they drive.

Just do it.

You already know it's not ideal and plan on regearing...so just run it until you have the capital to regear. I ran 35's on 3.21's on my 3.6 6 speed for 13 months and finally regeared to 4.56. I wheeled the piss out of it with the 3.21's. If you run any blacks, or plan on hitting the rocks...you will burn a lot of clutch. Not a big deal. I regret not going 4.88, but that's a different story.
