In both of those setups you don't have enough sidewall for optima off roading but you never here no one tell the guys with 33s on 17s that

Now OP if you want 35s on 20s it's not going to take anything more to run them then any rim with 35s

I run 20s and love them
thanks jaker i have seen u going at it with many 20 haters on these forums, some ppl take it a lil to far to each his own i say . ur rig set up looks great

I rather just hear people say they don't like 20s or just stay out of threads that talk about them , but it bugs the hell out of me when they start thowing sidewall into as a reason

There is no other rim tire combo then 20s that get talk bad about

Wheel size will make little difference in MPGs. Tire size will make a big difference. But, just as you will find a few people who like 20s on their 35s, you will find a few people who say they get incredible gas mileage on 35s. There is all kinds of nonsense to be found if you want. It is your Jeep: Do what you will.

Usually there's a 1~3 mpg difference between 33" and 35" wheels, with the larger getting less. Regearing will get some mpg back, but stock is the best for miles per tank.

33s on 17s on the left, 35s on 16s on the right.

I don't get the point of your pictures execpt that is what I am talking about you told the OP that 35s on 20s is not good for off roading , but you are ok with 33s on 17s

They have about the same amount of sidewall ( depending on the tire maker and wheel width )
