35s on 20s help plz

There are a few people who wheel on 20s with 35s, but it's really not optimal. You need sidewall to protect the rim, especially when you air down. You may think you won't air down, but even if just traveling dirt roads, the washboard roads will have you paying for new dental fillings in no time flat if you don't. LOL. And, if you do air down on 20s, you risk damage to the rims. Also, 20s and 35s just yell out to your fellow Jeepers: "I just bought this for the looks; I don't wheel it!" Remember that this is a Jeep you're building, not a pick-up truck. What knowledgeable people think looks good on a pick-up or SUV is sometimes much different than what looks good on a Jeep.

17's equal better ride, better for off road and way more options for replacement later on. 20's have come down a lot over the last few years but there is still limited options and still very expensive. I loved the looks on my Ram with 20's but not my JK. The dealer had 20's on my Jeep when I bought it and I had them swap them for 17's. Here are some before and after pics to give you an idea.

I am running 2.5" Teraflex BB with 20" wheels and 35's. Granted it's not optimal for off road, but the wheels came on my rig with 33's and I didn't want to spend the extra to change wheels when I went to 35's. It has a much smoother ride with the 35's extra sidewall, but even with the 4.10 in my rubicon I need to regear to at least 4.88's. Probably wouldn't be so bad with the new engine tho.
thats it ima get 22s just to pi$$ you off

Plan on losing 4~6 mpg with a lift and 35" tires, rim size will not make too much of a difference. If you want to reclaim 1mpg, then keep the plastic air dam keeping airflow clean under the jeep. You will have to trim the sides of the plastic to clear tires when turning.

You know it bugs me when I see a thread like this and all the 20s hating people talking crap about airing down , but those same people think and say 33s and under on 17s is fine
In both of those setups you don't have enough sidewall for optima off roading but you never here no one tell the guys with 33s and under on 17s that
Now OP if you want 35s on 20s it's not going to take anything more to run them then any rim with 35s
I run 20s and love them
