Default 35's on 16's vs 35's on 17's

Anybody running 35's on 16" rims ? I'm curious if there is a noticeable loss in gas mileage and/or handling with the smaller 16's.

Best bang for the buck is to go down to 15" alloys. You will find they are significantly lighter than their 16 and 17" comparables. If this doesn't do it for you, compare tire prices on R15's vs R16 and R17's. Be forewarned, there are some 15's that will clear the brake caliper and some that won't. Talk to the Discount Tire vendor and he will hook you up!

are there many 36's or 37s in a R15? also, it seems most of the r16's in a larger tire size get wicked wide (like a 365/75/16), any downside to going that wide? i imagine the handling would suffer some

As a note, some tire company's vary in size depending in rim.

When I was getting my 35x12.50r17 mtr-k's mounted, there was someone getting the same exact tire on a 15" rim mounted. Same load rating. We got talking, and as his tires rolled out, we both noticed mine were about half an inch larger at the same psi. Every tire.

I have 16's ... Keep in mind that 15' and 17's will let you buy true sizes .. i.e. 35 X 17 ... 16 inche tires only come in Metric ... I am running 315/75R16 ...

I have 35x12,5x16 Maxxis Trepador, on stock wheels. I had a worse in gas melliage, but it was installed with lift and heavy bumpers. Now I'm getting 4,5 - 5 km/l city.

May be kind of off topic
BUT
If you do any airing down for trail riding you will want to stay away from 16" wheels if possible.
16's have way less "bead seating area"
It is not a question of if you will knock a tire off the wheel? but when will you knock a tire off the wheel?

15,16.5,17,18 are all o.k.

I am sure somebody has a set of 16's on their ride and have never had a problem.....
WELL
Good for them, and if you dont mind being that guy (that always causes a traffic jam on the trail) then get you a set of 16's

really? thats the first i've heard of it, i thought folks always recommended going with 15's and 16's over 17s just for the better trail ride
