Default 35" tire on factory gate

I want to get a spare that matches the 325/70's on my JK. Just wondering if anyone has had any trouble with mounting that large of a tire on the factory spare carrier? I don't plan to get a rear bumper for a while, but I don't like the look of the factory spare with my aftermarket wheels and tires.

So what are your experiences?

Some guys have run a 35 spare and have no issues, but then just about the same amount have had issues. Welds popping, tail gate deforming, all the fun stuff.

It might work for a little while, but eventually you'll have an issue. I just lifted my Jeep and won't be able to afford a bumper for about 1 month, so I'm gonna have to do it for a while.

I have a 35" KM2 on my tailgate. I had to use an aftermarket spacer that moved the tire out and up a small amount.

I had to do the same thing with the same tire. So far I don't have any problems but a bumper with a carrier will be my next upgrade.

I had a 35" on my TJ for years. It ended up stripping the threads in the door and falling off eventually.

Like the others said, some have reported no problems with 35s, either stock or with the MBRP gate brackets. Unsure if they actually wheel or drive their JK ?

They didnt work for me. I'd advise getting a tire carrier sooner not later.

Get some of these in the mean time, until you can afford a carrier. thats what i got until i got the funds for the ORF carrier, only 30 bucks to help with the structural integrity of the gate.

http://www.quadratec.com/products/22202_1001.htm

got it with a 35 KM2 back there and so far no problems, but i havent wheeled it hard since getting this set up, can report back next month after a trip to Superlift ORV park!!
