Default 35" Tire Concerns

I have a 2011 JKU Rubicon with a SkyJacker 2.5" suspension lift, but everything else is stock.
If I go with 35" tires and a wheel with enough backspacing to not use wheel spacers, do I need to be concerned with a tire that big bending the axles over time?
I only ask because my alignment shop warned me about going up to a 35" tire without further modification.

Subscribed! Love to see the responses as well. I'm DYING to go to 35's without all the associated craziness and expensive add-ons but I'm nervous about issues as well.

Yes. A heavier tire is more likely to bend your "C's", your axle tube or both. Not to mention it will wear your stock ball joints prematurely and other driveline components along the way. With a taller tire, you need to consider a regear, maybe lockers while your'e in there, and so on, and so on. When we chose to mod, you have to consider the affects on stock or weaker components. That's why our Jeeps are money pits, one mod leads to another.

At a minimum, get some gussets for the C's. Really it depends on how hard you wheel it and how heavy the tires are. I had "E" rated 35's on steel wheels for a while and they weighed a ton. Reinforcement is cheap insurance.

You say you have a Rubi, so for 35's, gusset the Cs and re-gear down the road. Quit stalling.

I just got 35" km2 with plain steel wheels for my 2011 rubi and was concerned about this as well. But I don't think it will be to bad since the wheels will not be to much heavier than the stock ones

I'd also consider a slightly smaller tire, such as the Nitto Trail Grappler 315/70R17 (34") if I thought it would help... But I'm guessing a 33" tire would be about as big as I could go without causing too much stress on other components.

You'll be fine. C gussets are a good idea. Go for it. I've had 35's (KM2's) for a long time now, wheel it about once a month no problems. 4.5" BS is what you want probably, what I have anyway.

This has been discussed a million times over, your gonna get 3 types of people and they're corrosponding answers.

1. Guys like me. Get the tires, run em. Upgrade as money is available. People have been running 35's on the weaker dana 30 for years, and the one on the JK is stronger. If you have a rubicon I wouldnt give it a second thought.

2. Guys who suggest the minimum you really "should" have to make it as safe as possible, like the dude above with the yellow Jk on 37's.

3. Guys who (I hate these types) will advise you of all sorts of crap and money you need to spend to run a damn 31" tire.

IMO get the damn tires!!!!

I agree with Scotty!

Some people are fine with 35s on stock axles with stock gears. Upgrade if you need to.
