I've got my 35" on the stock carrier. Spot welds are warping, getting fold over dents in the bottom off the tailgate from the weight.
I've only had it on for about 6 months

Been carrying my big 35 toyo on the back for a year including offroading and everything ok so far. My bumper does seem to help hold up the tire and the brake light is above the tire enough to still be seen plainly.
One day plan to get the lod bumper on the rear to match the one out front.
Dug up a picture of mine.

from the sounds of it, it works just fine. its only on occasion that the tailgate gets wrecked. as long as you watch for signs of warping or welds starting to fail i'm sure you could get the tire off before catastrophic failure actually happens. Im not to worried about it at all. we'll see if i can get the bottom of the tire resting on something to help with the weight a little bit

I welded a support to the top of my rear tow hook that the bottom of the 35" tire rests on when the door is shut. I have been running this way for two years with a bunch of off road time and no problems yet.

see, now that's thinking. 2 years and no problems. and you got to add something to your jeep that was all your idea. I think that is very cool, when someone sees a fix for their possible problem and comes up with an idea and makes it and fixes it themselves instead of just going out and spending money on something that is not required. personalize those jeeps

Ive had 35's on my stock carrier for 3+ years now and no cracking/warping/breaking at all. I've even taken it through some 2ft woops at 55MPH a BUNCH of times, still not breakage.
I did move my tail light though. Not because you couldnt see it but because it looks better this way.
