I agree that the hinges will be fine unless you drive with the tailgate open. I am going with the spacer from Teraflex and the longer isolators. If I see any kind of stress on the tailgate I will look into another option. I suggest if you are going offroading with the extension you should put the spare in the back and strap it down...just my 2 cents.

I was told that it is wise to have both the carrier and the support plates.

I'll probably end up with the smittybuilt product along with some form of backing plate that I'll fab myself...although $30 is pretty cheap.

Just had my 35" KM2s installed and the spare fits (barely) with the 3rd brake light and stock bumper:

Just hung a 315/75/16 KM2 on my stock carrier, fit fine. Wheel has 4.5" BS.

Went with the smitybilt 2721 spare relocator. I'll post up once i have it and have it mounted.
