Default 35"s on stock gears

i know its probably been asked before but cant find the thread. i got a '12 JKU sport and got the 2.5" teraflex BB and want to put 35"s on. will the stock gears pull ok with the 35"s? its my DD but i dont mind buying gears if recommended. but if i dont have to then no sweat. does the rest of the stock drivetrain handle them well?

Which stock gears do you have, auto or manual, and are you getting 60 lb 35" KM2's or 85 lb pitbull rockers. All factor in. I have 3.21's manual on my 2012 sport with 35" Km2's and its not terrible but stall it a lot on the trail. I'm saving up for 4.10 or 4.56 within the next 2 months. Got the 35's on in Janurary. Auto sucks cuz it will shift over the place on highway. With manual, 5th gear is actually pretty nice rpm range (70 mph and about 2300 rpms). 6th is pretty much useless. It will put a little more wear and tear on your clutch also

It will drive ok. If you have the cash I would go ahead and regear. I have a 12 jku sahara and live in AZ so I really don't have any issues with stock gearing. I would love to regear but limited funds makes me have to wait.

It will definitely perform better regeared, but you can always pro cal it and see how it drives. People's ideas of acceptable performance on this site varies significantly. I've heard guys say stock 32" tires and 3.21's is the biggest slug in the world, which i find to be a ridiculous statement considering its a jeep that goes 0-60 under 8 seconds lol.

haha couldn't tell you, i'm trying to make that decision here myself. I wouldn't go any higher than 4.56 for sure unless you're going to be running 37's. I do a lot of highway so i am considering 4.10's which some say is perfect, but i'm afraid i'll regret it offroad not getting the 4.56.

I would find out first whether you have 3.21 or 3.73. You can register vin on jeeps website and it will show you the build sheet, if you don't have it. If its 3.73 i would definitely drive it first and see what you think. That should be pretty tolerable with the 2012/13. You will want a pro cal to program new tire size tho either way with the auto

If you have 3.21s than you will definitely want to regear. 3.73s might be okay especially if you do a lot of flat freeway driving. I have 35s and am running 4.10s in my 2012 auto.

With the pentastar engine in the 11s-13s you shouldn't have a problem running 35's with your factory gearing, I would recommend getting a AEV procal though to help with some of the power loss.
