If it is mud and snow rated then you won't unless it is real bad. I have no idea on good chains though.

Depends on local laws and local police. When chain laws are in affect, they may let 4wheel drive vehicles through without chains. If it gets bad enough, they may require chains on 'all' vehicles. Not a bad idea to have them with you.

If you want a set to carry with you 'just in case', grab a set from any autoparts store or tire shop. If you want a set for off-road fun in the snow, get the expensive 2-link kind. (most chains will have a cross link across the treads every 4 links on the sides. The off-road chains will have cross links every two links on the sides)

And then you have the type of chain. Light/medium/heavy duty. Twisted/square/vbar. All kinds of fun choices.

tirechain dot com is a decent place to browse for info.

My Mud Grapplers were great in deep snow, packed snow, slush, and ice. The combination of deep lugs and siping makes them perform great. No issues. Just air down for deep stuff. Not sure if chains will be required, I know some of the roads in that area require them if snow is on the ground. If not you should be ok without them.
