sdhexpert - thanks for the reply and pics! Yeah, I don’t want to use spacers too.

Like dmarco1103 I’m probably going to have a smaller lift (I’ve read that OME usually give you more than 2-2.5”), so since you have slight rubbing with your larger lift maybe I’ll stick with 33”.

For 33” tires I’ve been looking at the BFG KMs LT255/85R16 - same width as the Rubi tires except 33” and obviously I would need to get new 16” wheels. On the plus side they are available at my local Discount Tire and run less than may other tires.

It's not the lift rubbing it is the tires ..... jmo but if your going with the KM2's and then you have to get new rims, why not just buy tires that fit your lift and current rims even if the tires are a bit more expensive. Seems to me the total cost would be less.

I’m thinking that since I will have a smaller lift I will have more rubbing - I don’t know how much more but some more. I’m sure that if I had any rubbing it would eventually get annoying to me and I would have to “fix it” - as you are thinking maybe the fix would be cheap.

I would really like to just use my current rims (to get the cheaper upgrade), and I would prefer to get something like the BFG KMs (which I really like), and I don’t really want a wider tire. The BFG KM 33” tires have the same tread, same width, but are 1” taller. Unfortunately they’re 16” instead of 17”. From my limited look at prices on-line the BFG KM 33” are a little over $100 cheaper than the TOYO 34’s. Not enough for new wheels, but a good start at it.

Ya, the price on the Toyo's is rediculous.

What about 305/70 17 on stock rim with 2.5 in lift. I know it's a little wider than 285/75 17?

I would think that if the TOYOs rub with the stock rims then those would rub even more. I think that from what sdhexpert is saying the TOYOs rub because the tires are a little too wide with the stock rims (no change in the backspacing or no spacers).

I may get new rims in the future, but for right now it is not that big of a problem.

Had to get a spacer (expedition one) for the spare tire rack, and now must deal with the 3rd light issue.
I came to the same conclusion as you - I looked at every major tire manufacturer website and only found the Toyo and Super Swampers with 34" M/Ts that were less than 12.5" wide.
My question - where did you find the tires? I've been searching and the best I can find is treaddepot for $1450(for 5).

I wheeled with a guy weekedn past that had 34.5 X 12.5 wide Maxxis tires on stock Rubi rims. Very minor rubbing on the dirvers side if I recall correctly.

I think this is mostly a mid-atlantic company but STS tire carries Toyo. www.ststire.com, also check ebay, there are a few dealers on there.

I think Cooper's 295 is at least 33.5". It's available, but not usually stocked.
