33x12.5x15 Duratracs on MB72's
Hello everyone.
I was wondering if anyone else running Duratracs in a 33x12.5x15 on an MB72 would chime in on a little question that is driving me nuts...
What air pressure are you running to have a full contact patch across the tread??
I am down to 25psi and I still have 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch on both inside and outside of each tire that is not touching the ground. 25psi for driving down the road seems way too low to me. The feel and response was much better around 32-33psi, but I had over an inch on each edge not touching at that pressure.
Any and all input appreciated!
Thanks,
Tom

I have the exact same setup and the same issue. I run between 24 & 25 and still cant get all the tread to touch the road. Not sure I am comfortable running them much lower then 24 though on a day to day basis.

You could probably go down to a bit lower then 25psi for when you want the added footprint. Duratracs do a have a slim sidewall so don't go crazy. But you definitely don't need much of a footprint for driving on pavement. That's a damn wide tire to begin with and all you'll do is kill your gas mileage.

With a 12.5 inch tire u probably hve twice as much foot print than anyone else on the road. U gotta go low to it all to lay flat. Mine don't until like15 psi or lower...
On road I run 29 in mine

Thanks for the responses. I aired them back up to 32, the difference in the way the Jeep drives is amazing - reduced wandering, better acceleration etc.
Guess I will just wear down the centers
Thanks again!

Same
Yea, I have the same issue with my ProComp A/Ts (33x12.5x15). Not worth airing them down for the loss of performance or safety on the road. Still not sure if that's how their suppose to be...

Exactly what I was wondering when I found this thread. Mine came at max pressure 35. I dropped to 32-33 lbs and it feels good, but I did notice I'm sitting on the centers. I think that's how there supposed to be considering it would take a lot less air to get all the footprint on the pavement. I also read here that sides wear faster due to steering I guess. (cornering). They feel soft at 32 to me.... I haven't procaled yet so this keeps the light off..
