Default 33's vs 35's

Just got my new Rugid Ridge 17" wheels painted Commando Green. What cha think?.... and can't wait to get them on my '13 JKU. I don't plan doing any serious rock crawling BUT I'll climb the nth GA mtns OHV trails fairly often...

Mostly I plan to drive it everyday in ATL traffic.

I got 3.73 gears with AT..

Is there THAT much difference in 33's and 35's. Can I run 35's without a lift?

Dude, that's awesome. I have the same color on mine, the jeep not the wheels. How much did it cost you?

General consensus has been 4.10/4.56 is ideal for the 3.6L and 35's depending on the ammount of highway time you see. However, 3.73 wouldn't be bad at all. I dd 35's and 3.21's 60+ miles a day.

Those wheels look sweet by the way!

You could run 35's with no lift if you cut your fenders. Would be fine on the street but a little less than ideal if you plan on doing any flexing offroad. Throwing a 1.5" Teraflex leveling kit on there could get you by ($150)

Can you run 35's without lift is a yes and no answer. Flat fender it and adjust bumpstops no problem. Dont do that and you'll prob tear fenders off

There's more of a difference between 33's & 35's than there is between 35's & 37's. And yes, as has been mentioned, you can run 35's w/o a lift, but you'll need flat flares, trimmed rear pinch seams (not on a 13+ because they did it for you at the factory), good backspacing (4.5 or spacers), and proper bump stop. Honestly, though, I'd plan on bumping up to a 2.5" coil lift in the future. Doesn't have to be expensive with long arms, etc. Rock Krawler's 2.5" Stock Mod would be a great addition and will definitely enhance the ability of your rig. Not a must, but something to think about.

Waiting for pics of the wheels on the rig!

Old school rule of thumb, daily driver with 0 - 2.5" lift go with 33s. Daily driver with more than two off road trips a month, 2.5" lift and up, go with 35s.

2.5" is the gray area where 33s start to look small and 35s start to look about right. Street MPG favors the 33s and off road performance favors the 35s with your 3.73 gears. So what is important to you wins out.

IMOP it is the combination/balance between looks vs mpg vs off road performance that should matter most not the trend at the moment.

I was in the same situation trying to decide. I went with 35X12.50X17 KM2s because mounted and weight on wheels they measure around 33.75" on my JKU.
