33's and Sand
In dubai all we do is play in the sand.. i run 33's and i want to upgrade gears.. am thinking about 4.88's or 4.56.. any advice guys.. i saw a few few forums were ppl run 4.88's and love it.. and if i was to then move to 35's with 4.88's thatd be fine right?

In most cases and with a manual I wouldn't recommend 5.13s, but running in sand it's extremely important to keep your power up when your vehicle bogs down. Shifting gears in loose sand will cause a big drop off in speed and when you hit your downshifted gear you want to do so with power. It's a totally different animal than mud or dirt as you always want to keep your wheel speed up and float over the sand.

wizzo, people might say its sooo horrible...But I have done some dune crawling here in florida with 33's and a stock gear and its fine. Thats in pretty loose sand for florida too. I would put a CAI, exhaust, and maybe a chip for power. Then just go to Wal-mart (not sure you have, but theyre online) and get a tool to air up/down you tires. 33's aired down with a stock gear and a little extra oomph is kick-ass imo. I've heard people say to get 5.13 or 4.88 (i have manual), but I have NO PROBLEMS and I like getting 18 mpg, I wheeled with a guy who has an aggressive gear and could tell he regrets it...he was getting 8-9 mpg. Just imho, but my JEEP is my daily driver

With just 33s, I would not spend my money regearing. I have ran a lot of sand, and would not want much more than the stock 4.10s with 33s. Do you plan on running 35s, if so why? If you are only running sand, stick with the 33s, they will rob less power. Regearing really is not going to make your life that much better. You need POWER! Don't waste your money on chips, exhaust, filters, etc. Save your money for a supercharger or motor swap if you are serious about it. Everything else is just fluffing your ego.
