33's with 4.88 gear ratio? thoughts?

No, you won't need a new front carrier. If you're planning to add lockers or LSD, it's best to do it when you regear to save on labor costs.

Yes it all depends on the gearing in the tranny itself. The 4 speed auto pre 12 is terribly under geared. Especially for a heavier 4 door and why the 3.8 gets such a bad rap IMO.
Gearing is everything. Currently still running stock 4:10's with the 6 speed and 35's. Around town is fine. I want to regear to up the crawl ratio off road Less throttle/slower crawl = win

I would look for a used 44 before spending money regearing a 30.
Regear that sucker to 5.38's and maybe add gussets, truss and ball joints. .Reager the rear 44 to match and install the new front.
You might find this to be cheaper then just dropping the jeep off to have the gears done.
