Default 315/75r16 VS 315/70r17

Any advantage or disadvantage between the 2?

I was looking at a 17" wheel and 315/70 combo, and found a local guy selling the exact wheel I was gonna buy... But it's a 16". He'll sell me his complete set up with 315/75s.

Any differences besides more sidewall

Going with 16in wheels rules out upgrading to pretty much all aftermarket steering components, and absolutely all aftermarket brake components.

As noted, all of the bigger rotor upgrades require 17" minimum (you can get better pads and stock sized rotors, of course), and many of the rod ends for aftermarket steering components are larger than stock and are known to have clearance issues. (not all, but many).

What wasn't mentioned is that there is a smaller selection of tires available for 16", which will likely continue shrinking as time goes on. And if 37's are in your future, definitely do yourself a favor and pass on the 16".

Agree with all of the above. It seems the negatives outweigh the positives on a 16in wheel.
- Less tire selection available
- aftermarket steering upgrade interference.
- Eliminate BBK upgrade options.

Personally, I would stay away from the 16's. I thought I wanted 18in wheels but soon learned that is not a good path to pursue as well when I started shopping around for wheels and tires. 17's are your best option for a Jeep for selection, pricing, upgrade flexibility, and fitment.

Thanks guys...

The dude wanted $1800 for everything, Level 8 pro Bullys and Mastercraft MTX.
The wheels need new rings, that would cost me another $200. So $2000 when all said and done.

Or for $2650... could just buy the same wheel in 17" and get 315/70 STT Pros.

I'll just wait and spend the $2650
