Default 3000 mile report

Took possesion of 2dr, black, soft top, Sahara 6 speed, 18" wheels, tow package about 3 months ago from Stuart Jeep in Florida (a great dealership, I drive 30 miles to get there even though there is a dealership less then a mile from my home). I love the Jeep, it has been totally perfect! I love it even more with Airaid CAI and stainless steel Magnaflow installed in the stock position. Sounds great, shifting much easier, 2 to 5 better MPG and WAY more power across the entire band. I just had a Mopar off road winch bumper installed. It looks great, exposed welds and all. $499 with a 10% discount. Check this bumper out before you spend more. $89/pair Mopar foglights also installed. The radio is OK, not great. Dealership installed missing underhood light no problem. Removed every sticker I could find. The 6 speed is decent, throws are a little long, short shift kit would be nice. Steering feels a bit overboosted around town but still pretty good.

All in all, the best Wrangler ever!

Now for the hard part. I have to confess to being ignorant about wheels and tire sizes. I have decided on Cragar, black, Soft 8's. I don't want a lift. I would like at least a 32" tire. Can someone please recommend the proper size wheel and a tire that is a cross between street and trail (if there is such a thing). Will I need spacers? Thanks for your help.

Good stuff....
I have a question for you about the CAI...
Where did you get it for your JK and how much did you pay?
Installation looks simple to me, did you run into any installation problems or was it as smooth as shown in the instructions?
What did you notice right away with the CAI?
(anyone please feel free to comment, as this is one of the first mods I plan to do should I actually ever take delivery).

First, I'll say please search the forum for wheel and tire information. There is more on this forum than you'll ever need.

My opinion: Get a set of those cragers you want in 16x8 with 5" of backspace. If you don't want a lift then get a set of 33x12.5 tires and install 3/4" spacers up front. Most people will agree that the BFGoodrich Allterrain is about the best all terrain tire available. I wanted a slightly more agressive tread so I went with Dick Cepek FC-II's.

Good luck.

The Airaid CAI was very easy to install. I did however break the oxygen sensor trying to remove it. I had to cut the stock tube with a utility knife to remove it. The sensor is being held together with a tie wrap and electrical tape.
No problem. The jeep is much more responsive around town and on the hi-way.

I LOVE those Cragars...I have them on my Monte Carlo (a 1980, see below) and they will be going on my JK soon enough.

Here's the JK:

Both a dark red, sure to make the JK look good with those black wheels, too!

Anyway, if you're gunning for the Soft 8 in stock size, 16x8, Cragar only makes 1 backspacing in 5x5, and that's 5". Without a lift a spacer will be needed for sure. I plan on running a 3" lift with 305/70R16 (roughly 34x12.50) tires on those exact 16x8 Cragar wheels, no spacing. The math I did says I should be good without a spacer, but then again that's because I'm going with the lift.

Remember, too - the Rubicon has those 32 inch tall tires, so the possibilities, even without a lift, are still there

did you already have the wiring harness or did they give you that too? my dealer would have given me the light, but at the time neither of us wanted to bother with the harness (pita to install).

The harness was just hanging there. It also listed that light on the window sticker but not the footwell lights.

Thanks for the compliments!

I'm from Sayville but got my JK @ Island Jeep. Could have gone to Brown's but I had a connection to one of the owning partner's of Island. Turns out Ron Hasel is one of MY boss' good, long time friends. And with good treatment (a big thing for me - I'm only 19, so I was cautious buying my first new truck - I was worried about not being given the right attention, etc. because of my age) it was a no brainer.

Let's go wheelin' sometime jetsfan28!

Hit me up on AIM if ya ever see me: BrianStell
