I suspect it's because it's an interference engine.

For people what have had their engine blow:
How many miles/KM did it blow at?
Did you stomp on the throttle while the engine was cold on a daily basis?
My buddy's jeep just started loosing oil, looses 3L about every 4000km.. There are no leaks and the plugs are clean it's not burning... It's messes up..??
It has to be burning but the plugs are clean I'm scratching my head.

My engine was replaced at 30k miles. It was still running, but according to the tech it was on the verge of spinning a bearing. No oil loss. No power loss. Perfectly maintained and not abused. It went offroad maybe twice before it was replaced.

Just a good read about rods and pistons. IF supercharging in i your future, i'd focus on the last paragraph.

88k and it blew up. Just 3.5 years old. In fact, it's been in the shop since New Years day, and it's still there! Now there is a 3 week wait for a new shaft. Is this American quality control? I love the Jeep, but this power plant has to be replaced. No, I don't race it, I usually cruise at 70: thats after it warms up and let the oil flow. I bought the Jeep knowing I would not go fast.
