I was also in the New Mexico red river area which is mountains. If I lived in that area I would regear.

Like nthinuf said, nobody can tell you what you want or need. It is pretty much a personal choice and/or opinion. I run 315/70R17 Guard Dogs and a 3.5" Rock Krawler X Factor suspension. I live in Arizona so the terrain varies around here. I have an 07 JKU X with stock gears and overall, I am happy with how things are right now. I plan on changing gears and such down the road, but not until I change out my D30 for the PR44. (Going to be a while) I can get around in the back country just fine as well. I just wish the 3.8 had a bit more ponies, but I feel the motor does what I need it to do so I can't really complain. I believe someone already mentioned it, but since you are running stock you probably can't go wrong with a set of Rubi take-offs. You will get a quality tire that looks good, will handle most of your off-roading needs at stock, and it's going to save you some coin. If it were me, this is the route I would go. Get a set of Rubi take-offs and save your money for when you want to get a lift and bigger tires. I have been planning how I want to build me Jeep for over a year. I got the tires and suspension right away because I already knew what I wanted and had the money. I am building the Jeep around my wheeling style and needs, while factoring in durability and longevity. That's the beauty of owning a Jeep. You can do what "you" want to them. I would start by finding the Rubi take-offs. There are plenty for sale on this forum.
