I'm in the process of deciding between 33s and 35s and thinking of regearing. The shop near me was adamant that a 3.73 auto tranny on an Unlimited Sahara did not need regearing with 35s. I am very skeptical about that.

They quoted me around $1000 per axle. Bizarre.

Will I even need to regear then? or can I stick with 3.73's......or should I jump right to 37's? I think if I go to 37's I will need to replace my Dana 30 front and also regear.

Default gears

I've been running 35s with an auto and stock 3:73 gears for over a year.
I turn the OD off the minute I start it. Runs around 2400 at 60 mph which is perfect. Its definately under powered worse then stock for in town driving.
5:13s will give you OD back, better city power and fuel mileage as well but it doesn't have to be done right away. I'm about ready to spend the money on this upgrade though. Baby steps
