Running 285/75/17 terra grapplers on stock rims. Love them but wish I would have went a little wider. I'll probably go 305/70 or 315/70 next time. Feel like they'll handle better too.

Teraflex 2.5inch cool lift on its way. I know I want bigger tires. Keeping my stock mineral gray wheels. Don't want 35s but don't want 33s. So which do you guys think is a better fit between 285/75R17 and 315/70R17? Think I'm getting the nitto trail grapplers. This is my baby help a brother out. Thanks in advance.

If you're torn between 285s and 315s, you're in luck. Nitto is one of the few companies that make a 295/70/17 tire. I don't have the Trail Grapplers, but I did get the Terra Grapplers. I like the size, because they fill out the wheel wells great (I did put 1.5 inch spacers on), but they didn't kill my mileage. I live in flat North Texas, but we go to Ouray during the summers. 3.8, auto, 3.73s and 295s... They've performed great!

I went with the Treadwright Guard Dog in the 315/70R17. I have a 3.5" RockKrawler X Factor Suspension. The Tires are a D Rating. I avoided the E simply because of how stiff they are. A guy I know has an E rated tire and they make his Dodge single cab ride rough as hell. I also wanted to keep my stock wheels and keep price as low as possible due to a very limited budget. Im very very happy with the Tires I selected. Yes, they are a re-tread, but I couldnt be happier with them. I have driven long trips on highway, taken them on some fast runs through the desert, ran in deep sand and last weekend did an actual rock crawl with them. They have excellent road manners and handled all of the off-road trips very well. I went went the 315/70R17 to keep my stock wheel and they filled the wheel well nicely. They give me plenty of room for flex and arent too big. They measure out just shy of 34"s. I did have to install 1.75" SpiderTrax because I stayed with the stock wheel. Eventually I plan on switching my wheels out for Jesters, but I will stick with a 35 or 315 size tire. They fit my needs and have done well wherever I have taken them. You could say Im a Fan Boy for Treadwright, but Im just really impressed with their product and wont buy another name brand tire. Im a life long user of Treadwright tires. I doubt any of this really helps you out much, just trying to give you my experience. I do hope I helped a little though.
