Default 285/75R17 or 315/70R17 ??

Teraflex 2.5inch cool lift on its way. I know I want bigger tires. Keeping my stock mineral gray wheels. Don't want 35s but don't want 33s. So which do you guys think is a better fit between 285/75R17 and 315/70R17? Think I'm getting the nitto trail grapplers. This is my baby help a brother out. Thanks in advance.

I went with 285/70/17's and I kind of wish I'd gone with 315/75/17's

Yeah the those are just to small. And I see a lot of people who regret not going bigger.

I was in the same boat. Didn't want to go with a 35 but didn't want a 33. After which I think was a lot of research I went with the 275/75/17 and am really happy with that size for my 2DR
I also had a 2 1/2" lift
Here are some pics on Cliff Hanger and the golden crack
I had the jeep just were I wanted it and then a killer deal came so I sold it and got a JKU only three months after I bought the tires, but I kept them and am happy with that size on my 4DR.. Although I do think I'll go with 35's when these wear out.

285/75 is the better choice for stock 7.5 inch wide wheels. 315/70 is the better size with the lift-tough call. We did 285/75s on stock rims with about 2 inches of lift and stock fenders.

Just want to confirm that you are talking about 285/75R17 and not the ever popular 285/70R17, right?

I've had the 285/75R17s before and I actually loved the size. They actually ran taller than other people's 35X12.5R17s, as most "35"s run less than 34. The only thing is that no company makes a 285/75R17 in anything other than E load range, so they tend to be heavy and stiff.

Here is a picture of what my Jeep used to look like when I was running them....

New to all this. What's the load rating? And your jeep, how much lift does it have and did you like the tire? This is my DD and I wheel once and a while. What you think? Looks great btw.

I had factory 255's and upgraded to 285/70/17's

My next set will most likely be 315/75/17

Are the 75's ok on factory rims?

Load RANGE is referring to the number of plys. Load rating/index is a better gauge of how "stiff" a tire is. Any index over 121 deserves to be on a 3/4 truck, not a JK. With that said. the KM2 with durometer results where they are, has a supple feel to it in the 285/7(/17.

Quick Reply: 285/75R17 or 315/70R17 ??
