I do get why someone would want to add all the extra weight that 20 inch wheels bring to the JK. Even though it hurts the acceleration, stopping and the fuel mileage as well, the benefit to those that crave, or require it, is that certain look.

Eddie runs many trails on 20s and he runs 40 inch tires as well. Plus he shows his rig at many of the industry trade shows where the big wheel look is a fact of the game. If he wasn't doing all of those shows, I would wager he would be running a lighter wheel package than he does now!

If you want that kind of expo show Jeep look for your ride, go for it!

I would more worry over tire weight then wheel weight , do you even have a idea how much difference in weight is from a 17 to a 20 wheel

LOL!! you could wager that but, you would be wrong to do so. i run 20" atx slab beadlock wheels because i want to. they are the only way i can run 40x15.50 toyo mt's and really, they are the perfect size for them.

as far as weight goes, unsprung weight is a good thing as they help to keep your cog down and all four on the floor.

forget wheels and tires, you should weigh a set of prorock 60 axles

unsprung weight is NOT a bad thing and guys who actually wheel hard like having it.

I know what you mean it's just gets annoying that these guys bash and really have no clue , the biggest issue that most have is the cost of tires

the same for you , what kills me is WOL runs 20's and you guys don't have the balls to say anything about that
WOL is allowed to run whatever he wants. He wheels alot more than most, and if you read his post it is due to the size tire he wants. I still feel 20's dont look that good on a Jeep, although with 40's the sidewall size balances the look...so it is a TOTALLY different beast...

It gets more annoying when someone takes anothers opinions and calls it bashing. If you want to state that others "dont have a clue" without ever speaking to them, or knowing them ..that is just plain ignorant.

The tire and wheel set up is heavy but I haul these around running 3.73 gears and it does fine as long as I am not runnning into hills or inclines which again is not prevelant here in Florida. There are a lot of rockstars out there but there are also a lot of pintlers, fuels, monsters, steelies, and other styles so find what you like and enjoy it. Here is mine with 3" of lift and 35" mud grapplers.
