Default 2016 Rubicon possible locker problem

So my son just bought this 2016 JKUR with just 6400 miles on the clock and is having some issues with both front and rear lockers.

What it does is when put in 4low in neutral (auto) and lock both front and rear (one at a time) they flash for quite a while and then stay solidly lit but when you put it in gear and start moving they both start flashing again

We are not positive they are actually locking while doing this but we will put it on stands this weekend and check

My 2014 doesn’t act like this so any insight would be appreciated

Yeah... put it on jack stands and check. FWIW, I believe you need to be moving a bit for the lockers to engage.

This is a 2yr old jeep with only 6,400 miles on it? Just wondering if that is a typo or not. Is everything totally stock?

btw, you shouldn't have to put that in neutral to engage the lockers. You can be in gear and even rolling very slowly.

Yeah just 6400 miles totally stock very nice and clean Jeep
Was bought out of eastern Colorado one owner

We just left the tranny in neutral when trying to lock the lockers since putting it in 4low... guess it doesn’t matter. My 2014 is manual tranny so this is a bit different for me 🙂

Will try locking them again while rolling slowly and see what happens

We want to make sure everything operates the way it should because this jeep is getting a RK X Factor 3.5 lift, ProRock44 front and re-geared in the next couple of weeks. Going to be running 37s so any warranty work that needs addressed needs to be done soon 😁

Thanks for the suggestions 👍

I have had 3 rubicons and all have been auto and I have wheeled a lot and believe it or not I have never once tried engaging the lockers while in neutral. I am guessing like was posted if you are in gear they will engage right away. It often takes a while for them to disengage which is normal.

Yes for sure they can be a bit frustrating at times when locking and unlocking. Maybe this is the reason they are acting the way they are being in neutral mmmmm

My son is used to his OX locker in his XJ as it locks and unlocks very guickly

Just a quick update....
Got both lockers to lock and the indicator lights to stay on after about 10 minutes of rolling forward and back.

We think that they have never been locked possibly since new and just needed some time to function but now they lock and unlock fairly quickly 👍
