2013 Rubicon dana 44 rear axle
Ok guys, has anyone else heard of or had a problem with the diff center section spinning the axle tubes? Mine apparently broke loose (crappy welds?) and allowed the pinion to point straight at the bottom of the tub, destroying the rear driveshaft cv joint and pinion yoke in the process. Just wondering what kind of fight I'm gonna have with Jeep on this, it's obviously a defect in the housing. I've had 4 jeeps all with 35" tires (as does this one) but never seen this happen not even to anyone else...

This happened to a guy in our jeep group. Sadly warranty did not cover it. He fought with jeep for 4 months. I hope you have better luck.

Will grab some pics tomorrow before I take it to service, I can't see how warranty wouldn't cover it, the Jeep only has 7000 miles on it and is only 4 months old...

I did that to my 78 trans am.
Had to get a metal plate and then wrapped a chain around the pinion and then weld the chain to the metal plate. Then place a floor jack on the metal plate under each tube (required 2 jacks) and jack the axle tubes up while the bottom of the jacks pushed against the metal plate which pulled the pinion back down. Once the pinion is where u want it, run a weld around both tubes. Problem solved. In fact, stronger than before.
Pinion yokes are available if u ask for them, alot of people have to remove them for u joint upgrade driveshafts.
Driveshafts are cheap if u get a stock pulloff unit

This was starting to happen to mine, but it was caught early enough. My shop has seen a few, and noticed the bad welds while they were tearing down for a locker install.
