Default 2012 Unlimited - may need to run 37's with 3.73 gears for awhile - Input please

I know plenty about gears, RPMs, power bands, etc.; I only need responses from people running or who have run 2012 Jeeps with the 3.6L VVT with 37s and 3.73 gears. Anyone with a 2011 or older, sorry, but don't need the input.

I need more space, and my 2Door Rubicon (37s w/ 5.38 gears) is no longer cutting, tooooo cramped inside. I'm getting a super sick price on a Sport Unlimited, but may have to wait to put gears in until spring. I can get an auto or a manual, but I need to know the driveability of the 37s with 3.73 on the VVT engine.

Again, I know which gears I need for the auto or the manual transmission to be optimal, and I will get those, but in the interim, I need to hear from folks that have had to deal with the stock gears.

I don't have 37's or 3.73's but I'll comment with my opinion. I have a 2012 with 4.10's auto & stock everything. I think it'd be doable but not ideal. Sorta like pre 2012's with auto & 3.73's. If your planning on gears in the spring I'd do it, put up with it through the winter, and be very pleased in the spring after the regear. I'm personally planing to do 315/70/17's and not regear. Hope that helps some.

Thanks for the input, I'm sure the 3.73 with 37s is going to be a virtually undrivable dog. I'm actually concerned the computer might freak out. I just bought the Jeep 30 min ago, opting for the auto on the 2012 Unlimited (keeps the wife happy) and I will order my 5.13 gear pack on Monday. Lift will be installed next week as well as the wheels and tires, then I think no matter how inconvenient cost wise, I'll go get the gearing done ASAP. I'm too used to my 2009 with 37s and 5.38 gears with the 3.8L to not build this one similarly.

Yea I run 35's and 4.10's with an auto and to me it is a dog...especially on interstate. 37's and 3.73' with an auto would be a dog for sure. You made the right call. 5.13's in my future as well

I have a 2012 JKU with 5.13s and 37s -- you'll love that combo! Hang in there...

Auto or manual trans? One reason I traded the 09 Rubi for the 2012 is because of the much better mileage on the Pentastar. What mileage (hwy) are you getting with with the 5.13 on 37s?
