Default 2012 JKU Squeaking Sound

Hey guys,

I know there have been plenty of topics on squeaking sounds coming from the suspension, sway bar bushings, lower ball joints or rear axle joints.

Well, I just got back from my local mechanic to address the squeaking sound coming from the driver side rear of the Jeep. Using a stethoscope, they were able to trace the noise to the driver's side rear lower spring. After tightening the bolt that is above the spring, going into the body, the noise was easily 98% better! Not only the noise was gone when driving down the road, but the Jeep feels a lot more stable now. It's like a whole new car!!

The mechanic didn't want to turn the bolt anymore for fear that it might go too far up through the body. Their next step would be to disassemble the interior in the rear to make sure the vehicle will not be damaged. I didn't opt for that right now.

This Jeep does have a 2.5" ProComp spacer lift, Rubicon Express shocks, and 35" ProComp Xtreme MT2

Just wanted to let everyone know my findings!!

I've got a 2011 JKU, also with a 2.5" inch lift, that has a squeak coming from the rear passenger side. I'm going to check this out...thanks!

To be 100% honest, I would have bet all my money that before I took it in, the squeaking was coming from the passenger side as well. Mechanic said that the passenger side bolt was on tight, and it was definitely the drivers side.

Not saying it will be the same in your case..but just some more info.. :P
