Default 2012 JKU Sport regear??

Hey guys, just recently signed up with jk forum and needed some opinions!! I bought a 2012 JKU
Sport with 285/70/17 Pro Comp M/T s, it's came with the 3.21 gear. I'm not not an extreme off roader, but I use my jeep for getting off the beaten path for hunting trips. I test drove a stock jeep and noticed the pedal was more responsive and not as sluggish as mine! What I'm wondering is do I need to regear, will it hurt anything if I don't??

Going by that thought process, technically you could run 40's on 3.21's, it would just suck. OP, if you want stock like performance you'll want to regear to a 4.10, and you could even go to a 4.56 if you wanted a performance gear set. You would be at 2700rpm at 70mph with the 4.56's though. (Assuming you have an auto)

Yeah I have an auto tranny, I like how it runs, and happy with the mpg, I'm just always fighting the overdrive and having to shift down cause my rpms drop too low in my opinion and it feels like its lugging

Question

"No you'll be just fine. I run 35's on my 3.21's"

So, is it tolerable? I also have 3.21 gears and want to go bigger tgan my 285/70/17

I have 33s (32" actual measurements) on my 2013 6-speed with 3.21s and I'm getting ready to regear because I hate highway driving in this thing. It's my daily driver, so I need it to perform just as well on road as it has off road. I live in Oklahoma, which is relatively flat. When traveling at 65 mph with even a moderate head wind, I lose speed and have to down shift. A strong head wind will do the same even with no hills. The only time my Jeep is confident on the road at highway speeds is with no wind or a tailwind.

It reminds me of driving an early 90s model Civic up hill with the A/C on and 3 of your friends in the car with you. It's absolutely gutless and I'm surprised this gearing was even considered, let alone approved. I'm going 4.56 and will tough out the high RPMs and probably no top end until I can get 35s. My 33s only have a few thousand miles, so I could probably trade up in size to a slightly lesser tire with no problem.

Yes it's tolerable with a manual. Rpms are perfect on highway in 5th. Around town is just fine. If you rock crawl it kinda sucks, but my 4:1 transfercase helps that but even still, it's tolerable

That being said I am looking to regear to 4.10
Soon, but only because I have the opportunity to do so without having to pay labor. Wouldn't be spending $1500+ to regear any time soon

That's a Lot of gear for 33's. I know people who have 4.56 and 35's on a 2012 and say its a lot of gear for the highway
