Default 2012 Jeep JK Shutting off at idle

Having a problem with my 2012 JK shutting off when I come to a stop on the trail or on the road. Problem goes away when the weather cools off. Doesn't seem to be overheating as far as gauges say, electric fan doesn't seem to be on an excessive amount. Starts right back up and may not happen again for a while. Just not sure. Thanks for any opinions out there.

sounds like a clogged fuel filter to me. after a while the fuel pump will shutdow from overheating. probably ran into some bad gas and got a pile of junk caught up in the filter. a $10 and 10 minute fix.

I don't think there is an external fuel filter. Dodge/Chrysler has been bad about that for a long time. If there is, let me know.

It could still be a fuel issue though. Are you getting a check engine light when it shuts off?

yup. i said that without confirming. my xj had a quick solve for these same symptoms by replacing the fuel filter which is/was located in a convenient location. Google says the jk fuel filter on jks is harder to get to. sorry for the bad info.

it still sounds like fuel problems tho.

This could be a multitude of problems. Dirty valves, dirty air filter, bad fuel, low fuel pressure, bad plugs, ECU problems, etc, etc. You can trouble shoot or rule out a good number of the potential problems by having a auto parts store do a quick plug-in diagnostic check.
